SEPTEMBER 16, 1970 – Just two days before his accidental death, Jimi Hendrix performed in public for the last time during an informal jam at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho, London, England with Eric Burdon and War. He’d also recorded some experimental works early in the morning in a recording studio in London. They were unfinished musical sketches that have yet to be recovered.Hendrix was happily preparing a new direction after playing a more mellow set with his Gibson Flying V Guitar at the Isle of Wight Festival in August.
They launched into a few of their recent hits, and after intermission Hendrix joined them during ” “Blues For Memphis Slim/Mother Earth” and “Tobacco Road.” His last performance was described as laid back and quietly subtle. He joined the 27 Club on September 18th. A rough bootleg recording from Hendrix’s last stage appearance, which also included Hendrix sitting in with Eric Clapton and War, surfaced after Hendrix’s death.

Was it his destiny (27 club etcetera) or if Monika had called an ambulance instead of going out to buy ciggies would ‘ the man with the guitar’ still blowing minds
