It was the 25. In March 1947 and the young Couple, Sheila Eileen Harris (now Dwight) and Stanley Dwight were 2 years after their wedding, the parents of a little son, called Reginald Kenneth. They lived in Sheila’s parents, Ivy and Fred Dwight in a separate area of the town hall in Pinner, a village in London, which they inhabited all along.
Sheila was at the wedding only 18 years old and was working as a milk supplier. Her husband Stanley was employed by the Royal Air Force, and therefore not very often at home. In 1947, Stanley Dwight, was promoted to Lieutenant. Elton saw his father for the first Time when he was three years old.

The Dwight’s were not tone-deaf: Elton’s father played the trumpet in a big band, His aunt played the piano, and the not so musically bought enthusiastic about the music sheets.
Reginald (called Reg) was three and a half years old, he sat for the first Time in his life to a Piano, which is in the home, Dwight was standing around. He played Winifred Atwells “The Skaters Waltz”, and only after a hearing. Of course, it was not equal to perfect, but Elton’s grandmother encouraged it could, the Taltent of your grandson so well. It didn’t take long, and Reg played many times at family gatherings.

He found a great liking to rock ‘ n ‘ roll music, because, to be delivered to him at home all day on the Radio. Elton grew up with Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney and Nat King Cole, as he said later, once he was always on the radio program that ran every Sunday. In addition, Elton collected a passionate records. Later on, Elton was on artists such as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Little Richard’s attention. He played the music of his idols like very much.
But his father said he had to learn with something more serious to Deal with it to something sensible. When he was seven years old, he presented him with jazz notes. Elton was not so enthusiastic about it: He wanted to actually have a bike. Like any other Pianist Elton also played, of course, Classical pieces of music. Bach and Chopin had done to him, but his piano teacher described his skills in classical music rather than “awful”. At the age of 11 years, he applied to the Royal Academy of Music in London, he passed the entrance exam with flying colors. Reg played, among others, a four-page Handel piece recording Mature and was now a Junior student at the Royal Academy of Music. The lessons consisted of individual lessons, harmony and theory, composition and choir. Every Saturday he put in the U-bahn and drove about a half-hour to the Academy. He didn’t particularly like to go there, if he had no desire for lessons, he wanted to put the loved one in the U-bahn and ride around. Reginald was a student who didn’t practice a lot, and it still managed to. Nevertheless, he was described as a model student. Just like every other child, he visited in addition, a state school. Elton went to the local grammar school in Pinner, there was a moderate to good students. The girls liked him very much, otherwise, he was with the guys rather unpopular. They called him “Fat Reg”. His favorite subjects were music and English, because he courses she took later on as a performance.
The marriage of his parents went after some time to break, and Stanley Dwight, was rather uninterested in his son. Reginald was raised by his mother and his grandma strict, but to his mother he is a very close relationship as well as to his grandmother Ivy. If his father was there, he fought mostly with his mother, Sheila, what hurt Elton.
When Elton was 15 his parents divorced. His mother soon married again, to a painter named Fred Farebrother. To him Elton, a very good relationship, Fred (of him lovingly Derf) support him and took care of his step-son, Elton, of the complex suffered then to inferiority. His father married again, a woman named Edna, and got with her four children. Elton, Sheila and Fred moved into an eight-party house in the vicinity of the old residence, and he got thanks to the help of Fred and Sheila a Wochenendjob as a bar pianist in a Pub called Northwood Hills. The Play was never a Problem for him if you gave him a sheet of music, he could play it from the sheet. Of the money he had earned, he bought himself an electric piano. He was also a member of a Band called The Corvettes, but that was only for a very short period of time. They parted as the novelty was gone and they were no longer booked for children’s birthdays and other parties in the neighborhood. Overall, he had no Gig. Why not? Elton was then, as now, never nervous before his concerts.
