Did “The Simpsons” Predict the Monkeypox Virus?

Monkeypox Virus

The Simpsons, famous for its prophecies and clairvoyance, has shed light on the monkeypox virus prophecy.

“The Simpsons”, the long-running animated series famous for its prophecies and predictions of many events, is now on the agenda with the claim that it predicted the monkeypox virus.

On August 15, the World Health Organization officially declared a global emergency for monkeypox. In fact, this is not the first time we have heard of this virus. In July 2022, the WHO declared a global emergency for this disease in the same way, but the emergency was lifted 10 months later as the number of cases and deaths decreased.

Although this situation brings the COVID-19 pandemic to mind and causes concern, pandemic measures are not taken worldwide for now. In our country, the Ministry of Health issued a statement and stated that there were no cases in 2024.

Meanwhile, an image circulating on social media claims that an episode of “The Simpsons” predicted the monkeypox epidemic. The image, which was created by combining two frames showing Homer Simpson’s character sitting with a monkey and the red rashes on his body, was actually taken from two different episodes and combined, and neither of them is related to monkeypox.

The shot of Homer having a drink with the monkey is from episode 21 of season 9, “Girly Edition”. In this episode, Homer sees a monkey working at the grocery store and adopts a monkey named Mojo from the Animal Assistance Center to help him, and he doesn’t get any diseases from Mojo.
